What’s your role at Groop?
I am an Account Executive at Groop, aiming to bring new customers in and support them on the journey from initial introductions to our product to getting them all signed up and using Groop to the best of its ability ?.
What does a typical day look like?
I am still reasonably new to the team so at the moment I am spending a lot of my time reaching out to potential new customers, discovering what problems they may be having and then finding the solutions in Groop. I will spend a chunk of time on LinkedIn as well as picking up the phone and chatting to people, really trying to find out ways that we could support both local authorities and charities with their volunteer and staff management.
What’s your background?
Before Groop, I was in event venue sales for almost 6 years, 2 years at Saracens Rugby Club and 4 years at The Kia Oval Cricket Ground, both very sport heavy venues, which was a big part of why I enjoyed it so much. I have recently moved to Bristol from London (where I had been my whole life) so it’s a very exciting chapter of my life, getting to know a new city while also getting totally stuck in to a brand new role ?.
What skills do you need for your job?
I would say the most important skills required are listening, understanding and being passionate and sincere. It is vital that we listen to the needs of the customer so we know exactly how we can support them, it is important to have a good understanding of the problems they have been facing and it’s important to be passionate about the product and why Groop came to be what it is now. We want to get our customers just as excited as we are about what we are achieving at Groop.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love the challenge of finding new potential customers and going into depth about what problems they have been facing, particularly in the last few months. It’s so important to engage in real life conversations, it’s the best and only way of building long lasting relationships.
How do you spend your spare time? (What volunteering do you do outside of work?)
I am a huge fan of sport and love to play tennis as much as possible (dependant on the English weather..!)
At both my previous roles I was involved with the sports foundations based at the venues. Now I have moved I am focusing on getting to know my way around Bristol and finding out about the volunteering opportunities out there as well as any sports clubs I can join.
What’s your biggest achievement?
It was a very long time ago but at I achieved 3rd place (bronze!!) in Tumbling for Great Britain. (a type of gymnastics) ?.
